To start off the new year and as a way to help motivate myself (and hopefully others) to read more, I am creating a Monthly Erotica Book Club Challenge. For time purposes I'll be planning to read a chapter a day. Of course, if time allows, I'll read more than one chapter. During my not so busy times of the year, I will definitely read more! I'll be providing my own thoughts, much like a journal and/or answering discussion questions either provided by the book and/or based on ones I create. Either way my goal is to get a discussion going about the reading.
For the first challenge, I'll be reading Bared to You by Sylvia Day. I actually started to read it and ended up getting side tracked, so I'm restarting the book!

CHAPTER 9
Can I say how much I LOVED the gym scene!??! Working out together and building up that sexual tension is super hot. What I'm not liking so much is the jealousy between the two. First in the gym with Gideon and his attitude with the employee, who was doing his job by the way as well as his comments about her outfit. Then after their mind blowing sex in the hotel, Eva goes and gets all insecure/pissed off. Maybe I'm exaggerating or perhaps they are right in feeling the way that they do, but it just seems too much. I think I'd get more irritated each time it happened. It's sweet in the beginning, but not when it happens too often. Did she make the right decision by leaving him in the hotel without saying a word? Regardless of being mad, I don't think I could just up and leave like that. Perhaps I'm the rational kind of person and thinks things out before making any rash decisions.
CHAPTER 8
So now they are exclusive! Crazy how things change so quickly. I'm relieved for Eva and even curious as to how Gideon is falling for her so quickly. Was it only because of what happened in the limo that caused his feelings to change? I'm glad Eva said something about Magdalene as well. Most women would just keep that to themselves and be pissed about it. Hopefully he takes care of her and she doesn't cause problems for them.
Is it just me that thinks working out at the gym together is hot? I don't usually feel all that sexy at a gym, but that could definitely lead to some great after workout sex, no?
I'm left wondering what is Gideon's weakness? His faults? And could those flaws be a deal breaker for Eva?
CHAPTER 7
I really don't like seeing the tension between Eva and Gideon. I feel like I could totally relate to her feelings and would feel like I would have regretted having sex with him. Her run in with Magdalene certainly didn't make matters better with her comment:
"He doesn't respect the women he fucks. The minute he shoved his in you, you were done. Just like all the others. But I'm still here because I'm the one he wants to keep around for the long haul."
Really rude and uncalled for. Women can really be MEAN.
Once again though Cary to the rescue! LOVE HIM.
Let's see how she deals with her lunch meeting with him. Even though she says she doesn't want to see him anymore, we all know that's a lie, ha!
CHAPTER 5 & 6
Every time I read about Cary's character, it makes me wish I had a guy friend like him. Someone to confide in, hang out with and get advice from. I have to admit I'm jealous of their spa day and getting all dolled up together too. Just seems it's to Eva's advantage to have him on her side. Wonder what it would've been like had his character been a female instead? Had that been the case, she may have tried to swoop Gideon from under her. We all know how some females can be!
Holy hot limo ride! Sex in a car is hot by itself, but to be in formal attire and have hot sex in a limo!?? Where can I sign up for that? Eva had Gideon eating out the palm of her hand in the limo. That definitely was not something he was expecting and was even a little bit hesitant at first. But fortunately for Eva, he gave in and had a very intense moment with her. I guess Mr.Cross has his weak moments after all. Not sure how I felt about Eva's reaction after it ended. Was she overreacting in being upset? Gideon was a little hard to read, but maybe that was just his normal behavior. Hopefully for her, it isn't anything she needs to worry about.
CHAPTER 4
Wow! First her mother, now Gideon. How uncomfortable for her knowing not only is her mom spying on her, but Gideon could pretty much learn everything and anything about Eva. Not only does she have to deal with all the run ins at work, but now she has to be concerned with him in the privacy of her own home. I find it interesting that she mentions feeling devalued because of his questions and requests. His response, "Can't you look at it as you using me for sex?" If Eva was okay with that, would that satisfy him completely? Would it make Eva feel better about the situation? Seems though she is coming around with compromising and making an effort to be around him and getting to know him while they "actively fuck." Does she really want to know more about him or is that her way of shutting him up?
CHAPTER 3
Krav Maga. What exactly is it? It reminded me of a cross between kick boxing and self defense. My curiosity got the best of me so, I decided to find a video that may explain it a little bit better. I'm a visual learner so seeing it in action is probably the best way for me to visualize what's going on. (Click HERE for a mini sample of Krav Maga.) Pretty much how I envisioned it. Maybe something I'd look into later for myself!
Now on to the good stuff! Oh Mr. Cross. Another elevator run in and this time, it leads finally leads to their intimate encounter. I think I'd feel the same exact way that Eva is feeling, both turned on and offended. Even though Gideon's approach is so forceful and conceited, what a sexy way to get someone's attention. He makes a great point about being honest, but is that the best policy in this situation? While he wants to make clear what her objections are, it would be hard to manage such a man of authority and control. However, being in that situation, I'd be happy to find out what he had in store for the future.

Where it all begins! I feel like I relate a little bit with Eva in her new situation, new job, new home, new city, etc. Luckily for her she has Cary to keep her company. Of all places though, New York would be a scary place to move for the first time, especially if you had to do it alone. Even though her entry level job starts from the bottom, I've always envisioned a similar job in a fast pace city in a beautiful office building such as the Crossfire building.
Her first encounter with HIM sounds like very much like something that would happen to me too! How embarrassing, yet exciting. The suspense and build up of his character and her immediate reaction to him is very intriguing. Being inside an elevator alone brings many ideas to mind. Looking forward to how she interacts with him on the elevator!
